The position will be filled at either the Operator I or Trainee level depending on applicant experience and qualifications.
This role qualifies for an additional.
50 cent/hour shift differential, as well as a.
50 cent/hour in-person differential (subject to change at discretion of Del-Co Water).
Summary of
Responsibilities:
Operate and control water treatment plant machines and equipment to process an adequate supply of safe potable water to Del-Co Water customers.
Essential Duties:
Regularly monitor panel board and adjust controls to regulate flow rates, loss of head pressure and water elevation, and distribution of water.
Correctly adjust specified amounts of chemicals such as chlorine, fluoride, and lime into water or adjust automatic devices that admit specified amount of chemicals into tanks to disinfect, deodorize, and clarify water.
Start agitators to mix chemicals and allow impurities to settle to bottom of tank.
Pump purified water into water mains.
Clean tanks and filter beds using backwashing (reverse flow of water) at scheduled intervals.
Daily draw water and perform basic chemical tests:
alkalinity, pH, chlorine, hardness, turbidity, and fluoride.
Accurately test water samples and follow standard titration procedures and record results in logs.
Perform routine maintenance in plant using hand and power tools.
Accept after-hour water quality inquiries and facilitate a response by calling in necessary staff.

Qualifications:
A high school diploma or GED is required.
A current Ohio EPA Class I or greater Water Treatment / Plant Operator's License is required to be considered for an Operator I.
For an Operator Trainee, an Ohio EPA Class I Water Treatment / Plant Operator's License is required within 24 months of hire.
Must develop a basic understanding of water treatment plant operations and must be able to become certified by Ohio EPA for Wet Chemistry.
Continuing coursework in water treatment plant operations is desirable.
Must be able to work independently.
Must be able to perform manual labor and be willing and able to work in adverse weather conditions.
A valid Ohio driver license and acceptable driving record is required.
